Miley Cyrus faces fan backlash over a viral album signing video but sets the record straight with a heartfelt Instagram response. Discover why this moment doesn’t define her and why fans should cut her some slack.
Miley Cyrus found herself at the center of a fan controversy after a video surfaced from her recent album signing event in London, sparking criticism that she was dismissive toward a fan.
The 32-year-old pop icon appeared alongside supermodel Naomi Campbell at Rough Trade East on June 21 to sign unreleased vinyl copies of her latest project, Something Beautiful. But a brief clip showing Cyrus smiling politely for a photo and then quickly turning back to chat with Campbell left some fans feeling snubbed.

The video made waves on social media, with commenters calling her behavior “inconsiderate” and “rude,” questioning why she wouldn’t give more attention to those who bought her album and showed up to support her. However, Cyrus addressed the situation a few days later on Instagram, sharing photos and videos from the event and offering some context.
"Our vinyl was originally set to drop a week later, but since we were both in London @roughtradeeast made it happen day of," she wrote. Miley explained the signing was a last-minute surprise organized to give her UK fans an exclusive experience and that the record store requested no photos due to the unexpected turnout. She thanked fans for their love and support. "I wanted to gift my Smilers an exclusive experience & unreleased vinyl to thank you for the love you’ve shown me in the UK over the years. I saw so many familiar faces & met some sweet new ones. The record store requested no photos due to the unexpected last minute turn out but we knew the night needed to be captured."
The event also coincided with the London premiere of her visual film for Something Beautiful, where Miley was supported by her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, and Elizabeth Hurley. Billy Ray later shared a touching post calling the night “a night to remember,” celebrating the family’s pride and togetherness.
"The babies are all grown up 🥹❤️ @damianhurley1 & @mileycyrus at the premiere of Something Beautiful in London last night ❤️❤️❤️ #proudparents
Fans need to remember that celebrities like Cyrus deserve a bit more grace – especially in moments that are chaotic and unplanned. The hitmaker has long been known for her kindness and genuine connection with her Smilers, making the recent backlash feel out of character and, frankly, hard to believe.
One awkward clip shouldn't outweigh years of her being personable and present with fans. At the end of the day, she's human, too and respecting her space and privacy goes hand in hand with celebrating her art.
