Tom Sandoval’s surprise 'America’s Got Talent' audition is raising eyebrows, as Bravoholics question whether it’s a genuine comeback or a desperate grab for attention.
Tom Sandoval is trading reality TV drama for the bright lights of America’s Got Talent, but not everyone is cheering him on.
The Vanderpump Rules star shocked audiences on the June 24 episode when he hit the AGT stage with his cover band, Tom Sandoval & the Most Extras, performing an energetic version of A-ha’s ‘80s classic “Take On Me.”
While the judges were surprisingly supportive – Mel B called it “happy vibes,” Howie Mandel called him “a showman,” and even Simon Cowell gave him reluctant credit for being authentic – Bravoholics watching at home weren’t as impressed.
"The vocals weren't great Tom, I'm gonna be honest with you," said Cowell. "However, not everyone comes on this show to get a record deal. Sometimes, it's about being true to who you are," he added.
In fact, some fans are calling the move “pathetic,” with many speculating about Sandoval’s motives.
“Does he need the money?” one user questioned on X. “Is this a cry for attention?” Others believe he’s simply trying to rebrand himself after last year’s headline-making cheating scandal involving Ariana Madix and Raquel Leviss, which turned him into a reality TV villain overnight.
While Sandoval told the judges that his band helped pull him out of a “very dark place” during the fallout, fans are still skeptical of the timing and sincerity.
"I felt as though I had nothing in my life," uttered Sandoval. "And this band was the only thing that kept me going."
Despite showing a rare moment of vulnerability on screen, fans still aren’t rushing to support the controversial star.
“Real aspiring artists spend their whole lives working toward a shot like this,” one fan commented. “Tom already has a platform – why is he taking up space from people who truly need this break?”
Many believe his appearance on the AGT stage feels more like a calculated PR move than a genuine career shift. Even with encouragement from the judges and a few "yes" votes pushing him to the next round, the skepticism remains. Some don’t believe he’ll make it far.
America once hated this man and now his future on the show rests in the hands of those very same people.
This isn’t Sandoval’s first attempt to show off his vocal chops, he previously competed as “The Diver” on The Masked Singer, but was sent home after just two episodes.
Whether this latest gig marks the start of a genuine redemption arc or just adds to Sandoval’s growing list of post-scandal stunts remains to be seen. However, Bravoholics are watching every move, and they’re not staying quiet.
